Philosophy About us Home Winery Neighbourhood Press Stay updated Friends of Begude Downloads Contact Vineyard WinesOverall a very young team whose driving ambition is to make excellent wine from long-established high quality terroir with a modern twist; in effect we are bridging the gap between New & Old World producing fresh, fruity, zesty wines reminiscent of the New World, but with the elegance of the Old World, all at very affordable prices.
James and Catherine Kinglake
Catherine & James Kinglake searched high and low in the South of France during 2003, looking for the perfect vineyard and in the process visited more than 50 vineyards from Gaillac to the Italian border. In the end it was a very easy decision to buy Domaine Begude- we have fantastic terroir, which has been organically farmed for the last 25 years and has produced excellent wine since the 16th century, a modern winery built in 1993 and most wonderful views of the Pyrenees and the Corbieres.
Laurent, Vincent & Driss
We employ a French manager / wine maker, Laurent Girault who is originally from Cognac and has made wine all over France, as well at Rippon in Central Otago in New Zealand; we employ 2 other workers, Vincent Boutin and Driss Yousfi, who put in very long hours in the vineyard. Also on the payroll in Richard Osborne, the renowned Australian wine maker originally from Adelaide and the Barossa Valley, now based in the South of France.
