Why Organic?

We adhere to the strictest organic principles in both vineyard and the winery and are very proud to have been certified organic by Ecocert since 2010.

Zero synthetic fertilisers, chemicals or pesticides are used. The only fertilisers we use are natural ones made up of 80% composted sheep manure, 10% grape pulp and 10% olive pulp in pellet form. We weed kill mechanically or by hand. The only sprays we use to combat mildew & odium are naturally based copper & sulphur, as permitted under organic regulations. Consequently, the soil is alive and healthy with high levels of organic matter that can better hold nutrients and has a rich microbial diversity. This in turn, produces stronger vines that are better protected against pests and disease and also helps to conserve the native flora and fauna.

In the winery, we also follow strict organic principles with a minimum intervention policy and minimal SO2. Indeed, our natural wines have zero SO2 added. We are increasingly using only indigenous yeasts to best reflect our terroir.

We fervently believe that wines produced in accordance with these organic principles are of a higher quality and reflect a truer sense of place with obvious benefits for the environment, our workers and consumers alike.
